Welcome Back!
After a long and sweet summer we find ourselves knee deep in work, again. The past three weeks of class have been hectic for me, and i'm sure for all of you, between crazy assignments, late night studying (yes, already!) and the group projects that seem to be piling on, my head is spinning! Despite the work, it is all worth being back at SHU with all of our friends!
This year I'm living off campus, as i've said in my past posts, with a bunch of my girlfriends!! Living off campus is a completely different experience than living on campus. I'm now a "commuter" and I have to leave a half an hour before class...so much for the leaving for your 8 am class at 7:55. Also, living in a house means a lot more freedom and a lot more responsibilities. We have to pay rent, electric, heat, water and all of the things that as freshman and sophomore's my friends and I took advantage of at SHU. We feel like real homeowners!
My favorite part of getting a house off campus was being able to decorate it! I love interior design and all of that creative "stuff". After multiple trips to home goods, target, yankee candle, and bed bath and beyond my room is complete! I have espresso colored wood furniture with a medium-brown wall color and the theme is a serene turquoise, brown and white. I love it, next time i blog i'll post a picture up here (but my rooms a little messy right now!)
Well anyways, on a more academic note, any business majors out there!? This year SHU's WCOB started up the Welch Experience. The Welch experience brings so much more to Sacred Heart's Business program giving us so many opportunities to network, attend a speaker series, and learn how to act in the real business world. One of the greatest things I find about the WCOB's new program is the study abroad. Being a member of the business school, the WCOB will pay for your business class credits when you go abroad to either Luxembourg, Ireland or Rome! How great is that!? I know I haven't studied abroad yet because of the costs, but now with that portion of the price eliminated it is a lot more reasonable! I'm looking into studying abroad for spring break!! ...also, they're providing golf lessons because "business transactions are made on the golf course". This should be funny considering i've never picked up a golf club my whole life (besides for the mini golf clubs of course ).
So as the year goes on more exciting events come along. I can't wait to hear the Goo Goo Dolls sing one of my favorites: Iris, live in our very own Pitt Center in October!! And who knows who SET is lining up for our Spring concert!! It will definitely be great!
Well now that the semester has begun you'll all be hearing more from me!!
See you all this weekend at Homecoming, GO PIONEERS!
