I hope you all enjoyed your Holidays!! Happy New Year! Personally, I cannot believe that its 2011! I'm ready for new experiences, new fun but not so much a new semester! Winter break comes to an end in a little over a week and I am still exhausted from last semester! Though, I have to say all of my hard work paid off with a 3.9 GPA!! I was so proud of myself! If you really apply yourself and take advantage of the tutors that SHU offers and office hours offered by professors you're set for success!
Despite the fact that I'm not ready for all of the work to begin again; I'm excited to get back to all of my friends at SHU and begin my new internship! After all of my community service efforts with the Marketing Club and the Make-A-Wish foundation, I interviewed with them and I was lucky enough to receive a position with them as a Spring Development Intern! I can't wait to start with team wish! As a Development Intern, I will be coordinating fundraisers and other various events that M-A-W puts on!! I'm super excited to gain experience in more of the event planning side of Marketing!
Though I did not even start at M-A-W yet, I am searching for a Summer internship. It is crazy how early you have to apply for internships! SHU makes it so easy though! They give you all of the tools you need through a program called pioneer link. You can navigate through opportunities that companies post and you can directly contact them right through the website. If you feel like you need more guidance you can always make an appointment with career development and they really are great!!
Also, another great aspect about SHU is our bookstore. As I said in many post past, we have a great buy back program. Many of the textbooks bought at the bookstore have a "receive half back" sticker on them for a pretty sweet book return for you!! But asides from this, SHU is keeping up with websites like chegg.com where they offer book rentals for a much more discounted price. You can now rent your textbooks right from the SHU bookstore and they will have the packaged and waiting for you!
I hope some of you seniors out there have been receiving some good news on acceptances from SHU!! Congratulations!! And don't forget, post any questions if you have them!
