"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest
appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~John
Fitzgerald Kennedy
Ahh, home again.
Well, not really, but close enough.
It’s Courtney, reporting to you from the lovely guest bedroom of Aunt Lorah and Uncle Bill’s house. And it’s Thanksgiving break! (Woohoo!)
It was crazy just how quickly the campus cleared out yesterday and today—I witnessed everything since my aunt picked me up from my dorm late this afternoon. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see tumbleweeds roll across North Parking Lot (joke! There were still a few lonely souls left on campus.) There’s always a lot of anticipation for Thanksgiving break, I think because of how it fits into our semester. We have Wednesday through Sunday off… and then there’s only one week left of classes, then finals, and we’re done til January! It breaks up a time when people get stressed out because of final projects, papers and exams, and gives us a chance to relax and spend time with our family.
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it’s a day spent with family. Whether I’m spending time with my mom’s side of the family, my dad’s side, or both, I know it’s going to be a hectic but fun-filled day. I have a large family in general, and everybody’s pretty open with each other—nobody holds back and we take crazy to a new level. Okay, so my family is embarrassing. But we’re all so comfortable with each other that Thanksgiving is an opportunity to catch up on what’s been going on since we last saw each other, which for me, was September.
I always find myself raving about whatever my favorite project or research paper of the semester was—or what new magazine or book I discovered, and it puts me in a really good state of mind when I have to crack the books again on Monday.
Negative about leaving campus? My aunt and uncle’s wireless network is malfunctioning—so I’m going to have to post this tomorrow! It’s only been a few hours, but I miss SHU wireless!
