Guy #2: "Tearable."
Guy #1: "Terrable."
Guy #2: That's what I said. "Tearable."
Guy #1: No, "terr." Like "pteradactyl." "Terra firma."

Yay for Overheard in New York, the newest site on my list entitled "Tools for Procrastination!" People send in things they overhear while walking the streets of New York, and you should see some of the things people say. My roommates and I have spent many hours in the past week laughing over the site, and it's been added to my daily online ritual: Microsoft Outlook, Facebook, NYTImes, Perez Hilton, and then Overheard In New York.
I thought this particular quote was hysterical considering how much time my friends and I talk about accents. We're all from different places and whether they're Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Boston, everybody has an accent. When you're hanging out around Fairfield enough, you start to talk like you're from Connecticut-- saying F-E-R-R-Y more like fairy instead of ferry...
Not to worry though, Thankgiving break is in a week and I'll come back to school "tawkin like a Lawngislandah" again-- I might tease my Massachusetts friends about their accents, but they send the jokes right back at me for the lack of r's and g's in my vocabulary.
On another note, I'm so excited to get the basketball season started tonight at Harboryard!!! The women's basketball team has a friendly game against Fairfield University tonight at the local arena in Bridgeport-- it's always fun to feed the fuel of a cross-town rivalry, so tonight should be an interesting game. I play in the pep band, and we play at almost all of the home men's and women's basketball games, as well as the men's hockey games.
I love playing at the games because of the excitement and competition of the games-- as the band, we feed off of team spirit and the energy of the crowd, and the athletes play off of the energy coming from us. Sacred Heart University has one of the most difficult courts and rinks to play in-- and it's partly because the pep band puts out so much noise and energy to support our own team. I'll let you know how the game goes later!
