Clearly I'm the worst student blogger ever because I lack the ability to post within a resonable time, but I'm working on it! Maybe for my new school year resolution (yes I made that up) I'll start blogging more. Anyway, it's the start of the school year, the first day in fact, and it's off to a great start. 

Life as a sophomore isn't all that different from being a freshman, expect for the fact that I'm now living with some of my best friends in a dorm that I love. Of course I'm just as overwhelemed as I was when I was a freshman because I'm taking six classes as well as keeping up with a part-time job. Anyway, move-in day was a success! I managed to bring less stuff with me this year, which is a step up from the millions of boxes I had as a freshman. I had two of my three psych classes today (woohoo being a psych major)! Though I can't complain because I think they're going to be really interesting! Tomorrow I have three more classes, so that should be fun! Hopefully I'll see some of you around for Tye-dying in the Patio? It's put on by SET and it's free! You'll soon figure out, as a college student, that free is your favorite word!

Hey everyone! Hope your summer's are going well! So I'm suppsoed to be updated this blog every week, but that hasn't really happened, has it? I swear it's just because my summer's been a bit busy, but I promise that come next week I'll have a post waiting for you about all the happenings of summer, what you should be doing to get ready for your upcoming year, and for the freshman, what to expect come move in day. So far summer's been off to a good start. It definitely feels nice to be out of classes, of course I just got a job, so 8 hour work days are no fun at all, but it'll definitely be good come the fall when I need some extra spending money for all the happenings on campus! There is so much to do, I can promise you all that, from festivals, to preformances, to the mall, it's all waiting for you, so get pumped!

Freshman Move-In Day

They say that college is the best four years of your life and already one-fourth of it has gone by. I can't believe how amazing, emotional, and fast it went by. I can't even begin to describe the roller coaster ride that is college life, but I guess that's the good thing about a blog- to get it all figured out and written down. So I guess I can start with move in day. I'm from Connecticut so I wasn't going far for school, but since my mother pushed an in state school my one demand was that I stayed on campus and was not commuting. Thank god I did. Not only would commuting had stressed me out and sheltered me, but life on campus offered such great opportunity and opened up a whole new world for me (it was also very convenient rolling out of bed and walking across the small little road to class). One thing I do recommend to the entire freshman class moving in next year? Bring a hand truck- it'll not only make things convenient and easier to lift, but that building is going to get hot with all those people moving in, and a hand truck keeps you moving faster- which is the best way to be when it comes to getting all your stuff into your room.  Once it's all in (and it'll probably be a bit of a tight space if you're in a triple like I was), make it homey! You're going to be spending the next eight months there. And I know it sounds corny, but set rules, because while you may think you know your roommates boundaries and he and she will know yours, chances are they'll get crossed at least once without 'rules' being made. Trust me on this; if you don't want clothes thrown all over your room and your stuff being used without permission make it very clear from the beginning.  As stressful as move in day can be, just take it all in and embrace it. You only move in for your freshman year once so make the most of it. As tearful as goodbyes can be- know that your life at SHU is full of people waiting to help you. So have fun, enjoy your summer, and we'll see you in the fall!
