The Dingle Peninsula, TraLee, The Blarney Stone, The Bunratty Castle...never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever get a chance to experience all of those places in 2 weeks, but through SHU's study abroad program I got the opportunity to see all of those places and sooo much more!
Since my senior year of high school, I told myself that I would travel abroad before graduating college. With only one semester to go, studying in Ireland for 2 weeks over winter break was the ideal situation! While there, I received 3 marketing credits and learned sooo much about businesses and advertising. It gave me an understanding of how Irish business operates, but more importantly, listening to the many speakers, helped me to gain a better grasp on the United States' way of going about day to day business. I really think that knowledge will give me a competitive edge when stepping out into the business world come May.
Although I was there to study, I found that my favorite times in Ireland were spent with the amazing people that I met while there. With a group of 43 students from SHU, Scranton and Iona, there were so many crazy times that we are all still laughing about days after landing back in the States. From the sing alongs in the pubs, the journeys to tourist sites and historical locations and most importantly the late nights spent at our favorite Dingle Pub, "The Small Bridge," my experience in Ireland allowed me to realize that there is a big world out there, as well as opened my heart to 42 new friends!
p.s. The picture above is a bunch of the girls outside the Blarney Castle. Yes, we all were crazy enough to kiss the Blarney Stone!
