It has been a few crazy weeks here. I’m sorry I haven’t blogged much, there is just so much going on! I have also figured out that I am the worst blogger ever because I never know what to tell you all…
Let’s try to catch up...
A few weeks ago we traveled on our own for the first time outside of Luxembourg. Six of us went together to Amsterdam and it was really cool. There are a lot of things that are legal in Amsterdam that are not in the United States which made it very interesting. We honestly should have planned out our weekend better, but it was a learning experience. We had a lot of fun together. If anyone who is reading this would want to go to Amsterdam I would suggest going to the Anne Frank museum and apparently there is a swing that overlooks the entire skyline of Amsterdam. I didn’t know that until I left, but it supposed to be really cool!!! There is also the Heineken brewery/ museum and so many other cool museums to go to. I wish I was able to see everything there.
After we got back I actually got a really nasty cold. I was sick for the entire week. It was really hard being sick away from home and in a different country because the medicine here isn’t the same as back home. They don’t have NyQuil or anything like that. Luckily one of the guys had Nyquil and that saved me!
After I took the weekend to recuperate Katie and I decided to go to Frankfurt, Germany for the weekend. We needed a weekend away from the guys and Frankfurt was close enough to Luxembourg and had beautiful views. We went to the top of a tower and saw the entire skyline of Frankfurt. It was honestly the coolest thing I had seen here so far. We got very lost trying to find the tower. We kept going into random stores and cafes to find wifi so that I could use google maps. It was funny. We planned out the entire weekend and saw cathedrals, city centers, botanical gardens, and really good restaurants. The garden was cool because it had different plants and flowers from all around the world.
The boys played in a charity basketball game with the Special Olympic basketball team here in Luxembourg. They have a bronze medal so they’re pretty legit. We ended up winning, but the boys got a little too aggressive. There are certain rules that the US has for basketball that apparently they don’t have here. It was really funny to watch. They got pretty intense and I’m pretty sure winning against the Special Olympics basketball team isn’t something to brag about, but to them I guess it was pretty important.
Two weekends ago, the 23rd to the 26th, we got to go to Paris as an entire group. This was the trip Katie and I were looking forward to since we came. We couldn’t wait and it lived up to expectations. It was absolutely beautiful! We got to see the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and a river cruise. The river cruise was so cool. We had dinner and sat in a boat drinking wine while this boat just went up and down the river. We saw everything from there. Katie and I also went to the top of the Eiffel Tower and saw the skyline of Paris. I think we have a thing for skylines and heights. I wish we had more free time to shop, but it was still an amazing weekend.
I am going to attach some pictures to another blog after this one, but au revoir for now!!!
