I am currently: In bed, cozy, drinking tea.
Life is currently: Wonderful.
So I've been here almost a month now (?!). The last post I wrote weeks before I left and needless to say things have changed. I've come across a whirlwind of things in my short time at Sacred Heart. Some confusing, some upsetting and some more amazing than I could have ever asked for. Life is strange and beautiful in that way. I suppose because this time in one's life is notoriously knows as a difficult time of transition, it can fly by. But I refuse to let it.
Even just sitting here with the window open next to me, I know that the months of summer sun are gone. The air is cold and perfumed with autumn. The leaves are falling, Ugg boots have made their arrival and iced coffee is saying it's farewell. The change in the season was so synergistic with the lives of the college students, and now that I think about it, it is always synergistic like that. Most let it all just happen, some try to freeze it, some attempt to recreate the past and I just want to live it.
Since I've been here, I attempted to immerse myself in anything and everything. I began with Navigating Leadership which unbeknownst to me was one of the most crucial and best decisions I could have made. Then actual school began, classes started and my inbox was constantly full. My roommate, Abby quickly became one of my best friends, which has made this all a lot easier.
Our room is cozy and often inhabited by many a SHU student until all hours of the night.
Like I said before, some days are good, some are bad and some are just plain weird. Sometimes I almost wish you could record sound bites of the laughter you share with your friends that can be replayed to you when things aren't going your way. In a way, life is like a million pieces of random events, actions and people all meshed into one. You could be headed for a huge chunk of funk thats gonna mess up your whole day but what's difficult, especially now, is to remember that what's now is now, what's tomorrow is tomorrow and what will be will be. I see people playing "the game" or dressing up to impress others and picking who they hang out exclusively and what I really think they're doing is simply delaying the unstoppable. Life's gonna happen how it wants, no matter how much you try you manipulate or change it, it's not up to you. Just live and breathe the journey.
So I suppose this post has been a little less than happy and shining and more just a reflection of events brought on by the glorious autumn wind on a chilly friday morning. Hope you enjoyed?
