These past few days, well weeks I should say have been pretttty hectic. I joined a sorority...and then quit. I was sick, I'm for the most part failing Italian and in dire need to learn how to read books quickly.
SO...I decided this post should be dedicated to figuring out what my problems are and finding ways to fix and/or help them.
SO.
1. Finding what you want, what you like or where you want to be and sticking with it.
As you know if you have read earlier posts, I started my SHU life with a program called Navigating Leadership. I had every intention of then being in Student Gov. Then as life here continued, I sort of lost track of where my initial ideas were supposed to have led me (i.e. greek life) and once I realized I was not happy where I was, I sat down and thought about it. And I discovered that I dont like it because it's not where I want to be, its not my "scene". Not to say that its not for everyone, but personally I belong somewhere else. So, I set up a meeting with the student body prez and got the packet to run for an office and started getting signatures. And now, after all that (prefrence parties, philanthropy day, sisterhood night, big parties) I am much happier and less confused and stressed. So my solution to this problem: figuring out whats wrong, fixing it, no matter how deep youre in, you can always get out. Be where you want to be and thats where youll find yourself the happiest.
2. Being Sick
WELLNESS CENTER. Going to the wellness center was the highlight of my week last week. I was feeling TERRIBLE. They gave me medicine and permission to skip classes one day. And honestly, while youre here its so easy to get wrapped up in your day and your activites and forget the things you really need. Like sleep and good food. Getting 4 hours and eating fries everyday is getting you nowhere but sick. SO solution: LISTEN to your body, watch what you eat, SLEEEEP and know your limitss.
3. Doing Poorly in a Class
So I've never been very good at Italian. From the tiem i started in 7th grade to the highest level offered in my high school I've never been more than average and now in college I was placed in a course thats just a little too over my head. On my first quiz i got a 73. and the second a 51. SO I know i need to do something. Ive emailed my professor multiple times with little help in he response or no answer at all and this problem clearly isint going to fix itself. So tomorrow I have a meeting with my advisor where I am going to tell her whats been going on and attempt to discuss other options such as withdrawing or swtiching levels. So solution to THIS problem: Know your struggling, know your capabilities, TALK to someone. They probably know better than you do.
4. READING
Do it, dont put it off...but i hate it so much i dont wanna talk about it.
SO in conclusion, Identify the problem and attempt to fix it...dont just expect it to go away, it wont.
I know this one was boring, im too smothered in work to write anything of worth, maybe ill come up with something good soon...?
ANYWAYS
