It took me a long time in high school to find my group of friends. And when I say a long time, I mean, I always knew them, we were always friends, but it wasn't until my senior year 'til it was a consistent thing. 12th grade, and the summer before I left really defined high school for me. I knew it was going to be an extremely hard transition, and it was. But now, being away for a semester and figuring things out, still, home is the most comfortable place. I left this semester feeling afraid to go back home, scared of what was to come and how it would affect me and this new person I had become. Now, I'm here and I remember what it feels like to be this person. There's a sense of free-ness with people who understand you, which I haven't found much yet at school. It's a comfort and a cushion and a place to play out your change, figure out what's really you, what's not and how to mix it all in to one, which in and of it self is a life long project.
Each part of your life is a stitch in the quilt made uniquely of the stages you go through. To know it all now would defeat the purpose of living the journey. Eventually, the quilt will represent the whole person but until then, were not finished becoming.
We are forever works in progress.
