I can not believe that I am sitting in my EXTREMELY large bed in Rochester Ny typing this post. The last few days in Rome were CRAZY. Everyone was trying to jam pack so many things into a day it started to get a little out of control. I can happily say that I ate my way through and out of Rome. When can you say that you were 20 and could eat anything you wanted for four months in Rome? NEVER. I certainly took full advantage of this matter.
"Exams Week" or should I say lets try and force ourselves to sit down and memorize everything we learned over the corse of the semester. NEVER have I been more distracted in my life. I had to start locking myself into out "living" room just to get some work done. Sad to say it was the first time the entire semester my entire apartment was studying together at the same time in the same room.
With all of that being said I made it through exam week and attempted to pack for my long treck back home. I managed to eat just about every one of my favorite dishes again and visited the deli brothers every day that week.
This picture was taken on our last full day in Rome. Friday December 17th :) I walked around with two of my friends and IT SNOWED IN ROME! It was the most beautiful thing ever. I do not think I will ever forget the look of the Pantheon with snowflakes falling on it. Friday was one of the strangest day of my life thus far. Not only did we stay out way too late Thursday night but we all realized that the next day we would be departing the place we all called home to return to our native born residences. We all tried to pretend that the day was not happening. I will never forget that feeling I had on Friday morning when I sat in Heathers apartment and my life just felt unreal.
So after enjoying a moutwatering sandwhich, we walked across the street (atroversa la strada) to enjoy our last bit of Roman Pizza and a Coke Zero. BAD move. I went home only to crash into my bed and yell for my mother in Italian for 30 mins. Since it was the last day in Rome I HAD to get up and get gelato. ( had to!) So off I went with Heather (pictures above) and her one of her roommates. I was not joking when I said I ate my way out of Rome. After the gelato and a trip to the leather store. I NEEDED to go home and finish packing and get ready for dinner.
My last dinner in Rome will NEVER be forgotten for many reasons. Not only did I feel like I was adopted into my own Roman Family i felt like i was home. Dinner reservations were for 8:30 and of course it decided to start down pouring in Rome that night. Our reservations were messed up so I finally was about to sit down and I look up to my brother Matthew walking into the room. I was SOO surprised I started to cry. Not only did I cry I started to hyperventilate. Not only did he surprise me at dinner. He brought ROSES ( my middle name and favorite flower). This also brought tears into my eyes. I have never been surprised before and no one ever buys be Roses. I could not be more thankful for my family :).
