We had the first SHU Dingle student reunion on the 8th November. It was held in the Old Dublin, Wallingford. Firstly, we had a great turn out of past students, and indeed we also had some students who are coming over in the January Intersession and Spring Semester, over-all nearly seventy students attended the reunion.
I was delighted that so many students made the effort to join us in the Old Dublin. I thoroughly enjoyed the night and meeting up with past students and reminiscing about their time here in Dingle. There was a wonderful atmosphere evident in the Old Dublin; I found it funny that we were having a ‘group dinner’ four thousand miles from Dingle.
I was delighted when the reunion was first suggested, as it gives Deanna, all the professors who have taught in Dingle and me an opportunity to meet up with some the students again, I’m hoping that it’s going to be an annual occasion. As I mentioned on the night, I hope that when students look back on their college years, that the time they spent here in Dingle will be fondly remembered, the new friends that they met, the many new experiences they had and of course, I hope that they still remember myself. Of course, whenever past students visit Dingle, they are invited to come and visit Díseart and say hello to TP, the Monsignor and myself, they will always be welcome here.
I would like to thank Dr. Gerry Reid, Deanna, Julie Savino who made the night possible and arranged the spot prizes. Also, Paul from the Old Dublin, the food was great, as was the music.
