I am not exactly sure how it happened that I am now a SHU blogger. It was my task to recruit faculty and staff bloggers across campus. "A blog is a wonderful way to share your department's stories, your faculty and staff accomplishments, promote your upcoming news and events . . . blah blah blah", I explained. Then one of my colleagues had a bright idea: Why don't I start a blog about Web Content Management at SHU? I can talk about web tips and news, technology trends, new SHU websites and announcements. You get the idea.
Well, here I go . . .
I had the fortune this past July to attend the EduWeb Conference in Chicago with my web content management team. Just when I thought I had the whole social networking thing figured out, I soon learned it's now all about mobile websites and applications, user generated content, and the future "age of transparency". Who looks at websites from their desktop anymore, right? (for the record, I do). I guess the prospective college student lives and breathes right from their iPhone, where they are also sharing on Facebook their everyday experiences at home and at school.
So if I have not convinced you yet to start your own blog, you should definitely at least join SHU on Facebook and Twitter if you have not already. Check out our Stay Connected at SHU site as well. Til next time . . .
